Hackensack is the Bergen County seat and one of its oldest, densest towns. Away from the courthouse and the Prospect Avenue high-rises, most of the city is housing built in the early and middle twentieth century: two-story frame houses with front porches, two-family houses, and small garden apartment and multi-unit buildings.
