Warranties, in plain English
Two kinds of protection on every job: the manufacturer's warranty on the materials, and ours on the work.
Two different things
A roofing or siding job carries two warranties, and they cover different failures. The manufacturer's warranty covers defects in the product itself: shingles or siding panels that fail because of how they were made. The workmanship warranty covers the installation: flashing, fastening and the details that decide whether water stays out. Most leaks on a newer roof are installation problems, which is why the workmanship side matters as much as the brand on the bundle.
Siding
We install CertainTeed siding products, which carry CertainTeed's lifetime limited warranty against manufacturing defects, including cracking and excessive fading, under its terms. Every siding project we install also comes with our 10-year workmanship warranty.
Roofing
We install GAF roofing products, which carry GAF's manufacturer's limited warranty on the materials. The exact coverage depends on the product line and the system installed. Our workmanship warranty for your roof is written on your quote, so you know the terms before you sign.
What a warranty does not cover
No roofing or siding warranty covers everything. Damage from storms, falling trees, other trades working on the roof later, or a lack of basic upkeep (such as gutters left clogged for years) generally falls outside manufacturer and workmanship coverage. Storm damage is usually a matter for your homeowner's insurance.
Keeping your warranty valid
- Keep your contract, invoice and any warranty registration together.
- Call us first if something looks wrong, before anyone else works on it.
- Keep gutters clear and trees cut back from the roof.
- If you sell the house, ask us whether the coverage can transfer to the buyer.
