Replacement windows for North Jersey homes
Energy-efficient windows, measured for your openings and flashed so the new window keeps water out as well as the draft.
Why replace windows
Old windows cost you in three ways: drafts around a sash that no longer seals, heat lost through single panes or failed double panes (the ones that fog between the glass), and windows that stick, will not stay open or cannot be cleaned. New windows fix all three, and they change how the house looks from the street. Customers have had us replace their windows together with siding and a new roof, which lets the window trim and the siding be planned as one job.

Types of windows we install
- Double-hung, the standard on most North Jersey colonials and capes: both sashes slide, and they tilt in for cleaning.
- Casement, hinged at the side and cranked open, for kitchens and hard-to-reach spots, and they seal tightly when closed.
- Picture windows, fixed glass for the most light and view.
- Bay and bow windows that project out from the wall.
- Sliders for wide, short openings such as basements and above counters.
What a good window installation involves
- Measuring every opening. Replacement windows are made to size, and old houses are rarely square.
- Removing the old sash and stops and checking the frame for rot before the new unit goes in.
- Insulating the gap between the new window and the framing, which is where a lot of drafts actually come from.
- Flashing and sealing the outside so rain running down the wall does not find its way in around the window.
- Trim inside and out, so the new window looks finished, not patched in.

Energy efficiency
Modern replacement windows use insulated double or triple glazing with low-emissivity coatings and gas fill between the panes, which keeps heat in during the winter and out in the summer. Look for the ENERGY STAR label and the performance numbers on the window's sticker. If you are also planning new siding, replacing windows first or at the same time lets the flashing and trim be done once. New entry doors can be done in the same visit.
Common questions
How long does window replacement take?
Most standard replacement windows go in within a few hours each, so a typical house is done in a day or two once the windows arrive. They are made to order, so allow lead time.
Why is there fog between the panes of my window?
The seal on the insulated glass has failed, letting moist air in. The window has lost most of its insulating value, and the glass unit or the window needs replacing.
Should I replace windows and siding at the same time?
It is often the best time, because the flashing and trim around each window can be tied into the new siding properly in one job.
How much do replacement windows cost?
The number of windows, their size and style, the glass package and how much trim work is needed set the price. See our cost guide.
